"Give It Up to Me" is a song by Colombian latin pop singer-songwriter Shakira, taken from her sixth studio album She Wolf (2009). The song features American rapper Lil Wayne and was produced by hip-hop producer Timbaland. It only appears on the US standard version and Brazilian deluxe edition of the album. Timbaland premiered the song on KIIS FM Radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest, along with his own first single "Morning After Dark" stating that he produced the Shakira song to be released in the US whilst the latter will be the first single from Shock Value II. It would later go on to be released in Australia and Brazil in 2010.

"Give It Up to Me" which was originally recorded for his own album Timbaland Presents Shock Value 2.Rolling Stone magazine confirmed that the song initially featured Timbaland rapping but his verse was replaced with Flo Rida and then later Lil Wayne. President of Epic Records Amanda Ghost, said of the recording that "everyone’s breath was taken away when Lil Wayne said he wanted to jump on the record". The decision for Shakira to record the song is responsible for the delay of the album's release in the US.
It was then announced on her official website that it would be released as next American single in place of the song "Did It Again" which is being serviced to international markets. Shakira appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on November 10, 2009 to perform the single for the first time and later in the same week on Good Morning America. The song was also performed at the 2009 American Music Awards and Lopez Tonight. Shakira had also performed the song on the So You Think You Can Dance live results show November 25, 2009. Give It Up To Me had a large-scale performance on February 18, 2010 at the NBA 2010 All Star Game.

People Magazine gave an exclusive first look of the video on November 13, 2009, and the full video had its premiere on November 16, 2009, on Shakira's official Facebook page. The video was directed by Sophie Muller. According to YouTube, when Shakira premiered the video it drew 94,000 viewers.
The music video has compared to Beyoncé Single Ladies video. James Montgomery from MTV gave a positive review about the video and said that "The hips don't lie! Shakira's gone "Single Ladies" in her brand-new "Give It Up to Me" video (from her recent She Wolf LP), which finds everyone's favorite practitioner of midsection manipulation showing more than a few Beyoncéisms. From the dangly earrings and high-cut leotard to an aerodynamic 'do (which has since been replaced by a mane of dreadlocks) and a spate of dance moves that would make even the stoutest of chiropractors cringe, "Give It Up To Me" takes those elements, throws them into a blender, spins them around the globe and sees them brought home by Lil Wayne. There's the fact that she opens the video dressed like Jennifer Lopez from her days as a Fly Girl ... the inexplicable hieroglyphics on her left arm ... the part where she and her backup dancers turn into human caterpillars ... the part where she transforms into a super-shiny Shiva floating above Hong Kong. Give It Up — like much of Shakira's She Wolf album — is her take on straightforward club pop, with a straightforward video to match ... but, given that Shakira's involved, it's anything but straightforward, which, of course, means I love it. Shakira really is a true original — as she says, the hips don't lie."
